In January 2023, the Mãe Mirra Portal tried to find out about the initiatives to regenerate, repair, react and share in the region of Una, Ihéus, Itacaré and Maraú, the coastal area of southern Bahia.
The southern region of the State of Bahia suffers, on a daily basis, from the environmental impacts resulting from the development of commercial cocoa farming from the 19th century onwards. XVIII and more recently the predatory tourist entrepreneurship promoted from the middle of the century. XX. In addition to this historical context of environmental degradation, there is also the social degradation suffered by the indigenous peoples of the region. The indigenous peoples had their territories usurped, and their identities, customs and traditions disqualified, erased and denied in a process that could be defined as ethnocide.

“Our culture teaches us to relate to the Whole, observing how the different elements that make up Mother Earth behave. This is our way of living life, and any change, however subtle it may be, we are able to feel and perceive its effects. However, talking is no longer enough; for many decades, numerous leaders of the most varied ethnic groups have been alerting to the harmful effects caused by the habits and customs inherited from the western way of life, promoting drastic and harmful changes to the maintenance of Life. We have to act. We are aware of the importance of cultural and educational training, where Culture for us represents the perpetuation of species, the weaving of the threads of our own existence, different from education, which is just a bias of training and qualification of individual powers at the service of something or someone

In this sense, we see that many initiatives that arise on the planet, as a way of developing and improving our awareness and existence, are in the return of our origin with the Earth, in the recovery of ancestral knowledge that suffered extermination attempts. Much was already known. In the here and now, the same knowledge returns, as much knowledge is immaterial and, therefore, impossible to burn.
Within the initiatives in the region of the south coast of Bahia, the Collective “Levanta Amotara Zabelê” arises from the collective awareness of traditional indigenous knowledge in dealing with problem solving. The Útero Amotara Zabelê will host a philosophical school with principles based on the indigenous way of life, open to listening, in your totality. At the Center for Philosophical Studies of the Originating Peoples of Latin America, there is a study center (original knowledge and philosophies), a place for workshops and professional training, teaching, experiences, and workshops (practical solutions). The objective is to unite people from the most varied origins and different points of view for concepts and ways of acting to be reflected, rethought and re-learned. All with the aim of reaching new consensuses and levels of socioeconomic and environmental development, and ultimately aiming at new forms of human evolution.

Our original essences, or ancestral knowledge, transmitted by the oral tradition of the original peoples, teach us that everything is cycles, and when completed, new cycles appear, whether renewed or transformed. Thus, the proposal of Útero Zabelê incorporates renewal within the process of learning and evolution. (…) All peoples have thinkers and philosophers, who analyze, criticize and point out solutions; they just need to be heard. Now, it's our turn to propose and solve
