Learn more about our Agroecology journey in the Pé de Serra community

Our journey moves toward remembering our origin and our connection with the Earth, honoring each act in the service of Life. We also understand that to honor Well-being and Divine Life, we must preserve the abundance, beauty, and magnificence of Nature, and act in every way to build ecological settlements where food production and housing construction work to regenerate the environment.

We have also learned that, being the Earth a mother, we cannot divide her; we live in a vast territory with forests, rivers, mycelium, trees, winds, and everything interconnected. Therefore, our mission is to promote food and water sovereignty, a territory resilient to climate change, with the awareness to live well and in fullness.

How did we decide to begin the journey? By implementing regenerative and economically viable agro-food models.

For this, our first steps are:

(1) actions to improve the water collection system at the headquarters of the Community Center and two nearby family farms (total: Portal, Dona Raimunda, and Dona Ceridalva).

(2) implementation of successional gardens, also with shade netting structures (at Dona Raimunda and Dona Ceridalva) and successional agroforestry systems.

(3) implementation of solar-powered irrigation systems, providing water resilience for families who have suffered from recent droughts and currently need to fetch water from distant locations.

(4) awareness, training, production, and certification program for organic products.

(5) communal commitment policies for the protection of water and forests.

(6) strengthening the network of partners of the Armazém Comunitário Araçá, an important partner in the distribution and commercialization of items produced by local family farmers in the region.

Main project costs (execution over 12 months):

Implementation of 4 shade net greenhouses (5x30m) – R$14,000

Installation of Water Collection System – R$7,000

Technical support and agricultural management – R$13,200

Management and Finances: R$13,100

Purchase of Supplies and Equipment – R$2,000

Equipment Rental: R$1,000

Total: R$50,300

We are a center for community living and consciousness development, and our initiatives are based on the practical philosophy of Integral Yoga, the principles of Integral Education (proposed by Mirra Alfassa, the Mother), and the sustainability precepts of Agroecology and ancestral knowledge of the land from the original peoples.
